Join this two-day private sightseeing and historical tour to discover the Eternal City. You will be picked up at your hotel in Rome, Your private driver will bring you away from the usual tourist itineraries to capture the unforgettable sensual atmospheres of charming squares like Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona, and Santa Maria Della Pace. You will then appreciate the Baroque masterpiece, the Trevi Fountain, the silent flow of the Tiber River, and the beautiful Pantheon. Your promenade will continue to Emperor Hadrian’s Mausoleum and legendary Ponte Sant’Angelo to enjoy a fantastic sight of the Castello Sant’Angelo. After a 1-hour break for lunch (not included), you will have a skip-the-line small size guided tour of the Vatican Museum. Here you will see the art collected by Popes throughout the centuries, the Gallery of Maps with views of the Vatican Gardens, the Tapestry Gallery, and the Sistine Chapel was painted by the Renaissance genius Michelangelo.
On the second day, you will embark on a tour of the mysterious catacombs, situated along the old Appian Way, some 93 miles (150km) of underground galleries used as cemeteries by early Christians under Roman persecutions. After the tour, you will have a small panoramic tour to reach Colosseum. After a 1-hour and a half break for lunch (not included), you will have a small size guided skip-the-line tour of the symbol of the Ancient Roman world, the Colosseum. Discover the construction techniques invented by the Romans, and hear about the skills of the gladiators and the violent exotic animal fights. Afterward, explore the Palatine Hill, the residence of the Roman Emperors, and the Roman Forum, the center of political, religious, and commercial life at that time. You will see the old Senate House, Temple of Vesta, Triumphal Arches of Constantine, Titus, and Septimius Severus. End the Tour with a winetasting in a family owned (since 1712) vinery with lical snacks.
